What is Digitech?

Digital Technologies involves learning to be a creator in the digital world, not just learning to use systems. It is about learning how technology works and how to use that knowledge to solve problems. Learning in this subject will support students to innovate and create with digital technologies, whatever pathway they may choose. Digital Technologies focus on understanding, developing and using digital software, hardware and electronic systems across a range of contexts. Why Digitech?

Your world is more digital and fast pased than any generation before you. Digital Technologies shape our homes and communities and how we interact with each other and live our everyday lives. More and more people need digital technology skills and knowledge to succeed, whether you want to make robots, be a politician, or a farmer.

What we offer:

Students at Bream Bay College have the opportunity to study Digital Technologies at all curriculum levels, from Year 7 to Year 13. From 2018, the Technology curriculum has been revised to strengthen Digital Technologies and ensure that all learners have the opportunity to become digitally capable individuals. The new NCEA Achievement Standards are available in the senior school beginning with Year 11 (Level 1) in 2018 and rolling out over Year 12 (Level 2) & Year 13 (Level 3) in the following years.
